PFZ Farms is your place for education, research, innovation, and farm-to-table products that don’t require a web search to understand the ingredients.
Farmers across the world are being bulldozed by corporate dictates and profit margins. Like you, we’re stewards of the land and ultimately the people. To do this, practices and perspectives need to shift. We offer you multiple learning tools to create this on your own farm through community, mentorship, and expertise.
Consumers like you want to support local farms and make a difference in your health, which includes limited processing/handling, and ingredients you can pronounce! Our entire operation is gluten-free, so you never have to wonder if a gluten bearing grain made it into any of our baking mixes.

Family
Pfaltzgraff Farms is a family farm under its third generation of management. The farm was originally purchased in 1950 with the name Fairview Farm. It was operated by Roy III's grandparents, August and Earlene, until 1975 when Roy Jr. and Kathy took over management. They farmed till 2017 when Roy III returned to join in the fun.
When the farm was operated by August, they raised hard red winter wheat, barley, millet, grain sorghum (milo), and hay. Roy Jr. added the crops hard white winter wheat, sunflower, and corn. Now the ideas of a new generation are influencing soil health practices and even more crop diversity.
Our operating philosophy is built around what is best for all involved. We are not organic because organic methods are not successful or sustainable in our arid climate in Northeast Colorado. We receive, on average, 14 inches of rainfall a year, and we joke that sometimes it comes all in one storm. With the guidance of our agronomist, we use herbicides and commercial fertilizers only as necessary, and do so responsibly. We have recently started testing our crops for residual herbicides and for full transparency, will include that testing information for our baking mixes.
We integrate technology and innovation into the operation whenever possible. From the first use of a computer for record keeping starting in 1979, to using variable-rate air seeding to test row spacing and decrease water evaporation, Roy III has been able to see trends and compile data to establish best practices for no-till and soil health. This has attracted companies and researchers world-wide for carbon and soil testing data that few other farms can provide. Since 2022, PFZ Farms has become a recognized leader and innovator in the agriculture industry.
Part of our farm's mission is to help educate fellow producers and consumers about how food is grown and to provide high-quality products for our community. We’re always working on improving our soils and our practices so our farm will continue to live out its mission for you.
